In the 1920s, The Zouri Drawn Metals Company invented a safer way to install storefront glass. Zouri’s design utilizes a key-set sash in which the outer member of the sash is drawn against the glass by means of a small key instead of using direct (and hazardous) pressure on the glass. Many older and historic buildings still have Zouri storefronts in use today.
The Fox Theatre in Atlanta, Georgia underwent a restoration where they wanted to preserve the historical value of their fabulous building. One of the projects was the restoration of their bronze Zouri storefronts. The Fox Theatre came to us. We designed and built custom dies to reproduce the Zouri key-set sash. The photo pictured here is of The Fox Theatre and custom dies we fabricated to restore the bronze storefronts.
